Black Mountain Base Lodge |
| Recently completed
for the 2004-05 ski season, this new base lodge houses dining facilities, a
ski school, ski rental, retail areas, as well as administrative and support
areas. The project is the cornerstone of several improvements at Black
Mountain of Maine, a community alpine and cross-country ski center in
Rumford.
Black Mountain has long been a focal point of social and outdoor life in the region, as well as a nationally recognized Nordic ski competition venue. The improvements at Black have been made possible through the support of the Maine Winter Sports Center, an arm of the nonprofit Libra Foundation, who seek to "re-establish skiing as a lifestyle in Maine." |
