Smith Reuter Lull
Architects was founded in1998 by Noel Smith and James Reuter. Noel and Jim
have worked together in Maine since the early 1980's, primarily on school
projects. They have shared many of the same goals. As Smith Reuter Lull
Architects, we strive to work in the way that we believe best supports
communication and collaboration in the design and execution of a project.
This is achieved by maintaining the continuity of the design team and team
leader in the process from the beginning of the concept phase to the end of
the construction phase. We feel that this type of process ensures that we
can stay in touch with our client's goals throughout the process, and that
it allows us to maintain a strict attention to detail so that information
introduced in the early stages of a project is not lost in the later stages.

Listening and
communication are a principal part of our service to our clients. We work
to provide our clients with the tools that they need to realize their
goals. Each project is unique, and if successful must be a realization of
our client's vision for the project.
Since our beginnings,
we have gained a third principal in Stephanie Lull, AIA, and have grown to
an architectural staff of four. Specialists on the design team include consulting
engineers for structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil. If the project
has special needs, such as acoustical or lighting design, we work with
specialists to fulfill those needs as well. We feel that this approach of
assembling a team of expert designers best suited to the requirements of a
particular project will yield the best results for our clients.
Our principals, Noel
Smith, Jim Reuter, and Stephanie Lull, will make a full personal commitment
to each project. They will take a lead role in all phases of the work, from
initial building committee meetings, user interviews, development of
alternative concepts, to the production of working drawings and other
contract documents, through the construction administration of the project.
We have chosen to remain a small firm in order to insure that we can bring
that level of experience and commitment to each project that we undertake. |
