Serving Maine
Communities |
Smith Reuter Lull Architects |
|
The communities of Maine, large and small alike, are experiencing change as
the state moves more toward a service economy and people leave the state's
urban areas for neighboring rural areas. Smith Reuter Lull Architects works
with large and small communities to create a planned basis for change, and
has concentrated in the following three areas:
Adaptive reuse of
buildings,
including historic
buildings. These are the buildings that give a community identity and
historic continuity, and with creative adaptation to the needs of a
twenty-first century Maine communities can continue to do so into the
future.

School projects,
as
schools are often among the most significant buildings in a community for
community meeting, activity, and interaction. Decisions made in the
design and development of school projects can have a large impact on the
direction and pattern of growth in a community.
Municipal projects,
including town planning, libraries, town offices, public safety
buildings, and town recreational and open space.
